Hello Paul: I was excited to see your picture gallery. I'm planning on bringing seven (7) cub scouts to the Botanic gardens to take pictures of birds and then to try to identify their pictures by matching them to pictures on your web site. Can you give me any suggestions for a particular location in the Gardens where the birds would be most prominent? Do you think this project would be a good one? Thanks and regards, Kathy Bigler

Hi Kathy,

Thanks very much. I hope you have fun with the cub scouts.

Cheers,
Paul

Hello Paul, What an absolutely delightful site! I spent some of my childhood (1960's) in Singapore (my father was stationed at Seletar with the Royal Air Force) and then came back to work in Singapore as a member of the Singapore Symphony in the 1980's. Singapore has always occupied a special place in my heart and it was the wild areas that always enthralled me. Thanks for capturing them so splendidly! Back in the 60's there were still considerable areas of mangrove out near Seletar and I can still recall with awe my close encounter with a very large water monitor on my way back from a Wolf Cub meeting! I am so glad that the Bukit Timah reserve is still flourishing. Your picture of the White Bellied Eagle brought back memories of one of my visits there when I was rewarded with the sight of one circling over a clearing at the top of that VERY long hill! I used to wander for hours up there and it was easy to forget you were not in some remote part of Malaysia but close to a teeming metropolis! Are the ruins of the old dairy farm still there? Keep up the good work; I shall visit your site often! Lawrence

Hi Lawrence,
Glad that it brings back good memories. You should come and visit again. The Dairy Farm area still has some greenery and it is now linked to the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve but that area has seen quite a bit of change. A road now cuts through to link Dairy Farm to the expressway. Do send me your email and I keep you updated.

Cheers,
Paul

Hi Paul, Amazing pictures. Wonderful of you to share them. 17 of us will be descending upon Sabah this April and among others were recommended Tabin. Never heard of it before but when I saw your pictures we were sold on it and will definitely be there!!! Thanks for doing a wonderful job. Bye for now Edward. If in London give me call.

Hi Edward,

I am sure you will have a great time. By the way, dont forget to visit Danum Valley as well if you have the time. Right round the corner relative to your flight from the UK.

Cheers,
Paul

Thank you for your efforts in making these photos available for visitors and potential visitors. Botanic gardens are indeed for wildlife in all its forms, not just plant life. More power to the authorities who create and maintain and develop botanic gardens and all those who use and enjoy them and encourage others to do so also. Thank you.

Hi Al,
Thanks. Glad you like the pictures.
Cheers,
Paul

Hi,Paul, It's such a joy to view all your photos! My husband & I are trying to identify a flock of green,parrot-like birds that feed on fruits of the Chempaka tree whenever we go for our evening walk. They are really beautiful! We are staying at Loyang and were wondering if you've spotted any similar kind of bird near Changi? Thanks for your time and unforgettable pictures!

Hi Joyce,
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed them. I believe you are referring to Red-breasted parakeets. They are from what I know are an introduced species but have created colonies at Changi Village.

Cheers,
Paul
