This is my first Canon lens! Got it off ebay at a great price. Its has seen its tour of duty but works well. Sharp and excellent lens. I typically use this with the Canon 1.4 extender II. No loss of quality. This combination is much better than the Canon 2X extender II which shows image degradation especially when shooting backlit subjects. Have sold off this lens so no longer have it : (
